Nestled in the hills of Damour and overlooking the Mediterranean Sea is the eco-friendly community Qoya that aims to prioritize a sustainable and self-sufficient lifestyle. At Qoya, guests are given the opportunity to enjoy organic farm to table restaurants and produce markets, while supporting local economic development, natural dying and artisanal pottery workshops, and soap and essential oil ateliers.
From an architecture standpoint, Qoya looks towards topologies of traditional Lebanese housing, while making use of sustainable energy sources. The main housing units welcome visitors through a cluster of local limestone and textured plaster modules, exhibiting airy and restful interiors. As the crushed gravel road advances towards the sea, more modules of different sizes and heights are revealed, creating a homogenous architectural language along the site.
Descending the sloped terrain, on a smaller more private road dotted with roses, a natural pond immersed in pine trees appears. Interspersed within the greenery are wellness pods made of wood, a specialized spa and an open-air yoga dome, which can be enjoyed before arriving at a tranquil sun-drenched deck gazing out on the Mediterranean.
